It’s more than six months into the COVID-19 era with no clear end in sight. As many people continue working and logging in to school from home, the real estate market is again heating up with buyers eager to upgrade to a new home.

Below is a list of the top 5 upgrades that homebuyers prefer in a home:

    1. Upgraded Outside Space.  To escape “cabin fever” or simply to enjoy outside time, buyers are looking in-ground fire pits, swimming pools, outside kitchens, and with the season turning cooler, an outside heater.
    2. A nice (o.k. very nice) home office or classroom.  Dedicated space that is upgraded to be functional and appealing is very important
    3. Home Gym.  This has always been popular but now its a necessity.
    4. In-law or guest suite:  Family members could be there for a while and nice and fresh space is very important.
    5. Luxury Laundry. Concerns about cleanliness are obviously very high.  But with people stuck at home, the sheer volumes of laundry have escalated and if you are going to spend more time doing laundry, it might as well be a nice space to do it in.
